DOT LIVE PLANETARIUM SHOW: THE MOON AND SANTA (EN) dinsdag 10 december 2019 20:00

Why does the Moon shine? Does it orbit the Earth? How many golf balls can we find on there? And why is it shown incorrectly on Christmas cards? On Tuesday, December 10, professor Peter Barthel will answer all of these questions about the Moon and more! We'll also take off on a trip through the Solar System to visit all sorts of special moons that accompany other planets with our 20-meter planetarium in DOT.

Peter Barthel is professor in astronomy at the Groningen University Kapteyn Astronomical Institute. He studies active galaxies in the near and far universe, with the largest telescopes on earth and in space. Furthermore, he's been Director of the University's 'Pre-University Academy' for 13 years. This underlines his interest in science education for children and adults alike. In 2014, he organised the first scientific conference about the Star of Bethlehem. He also got into the news because of his research into the Moon on gift wrap and Christmas cards.

The show is from 20:00 - 21:00 in DOT, Vrydemalaan 2, Groningen. Please be present at 19:45 for entrance into the dome. This show is in English. Tickets cost 6,- per person.
