Recombination, by Amsterdam-based fractal artist Julius Horsthuis, represents a forgotten method of storytelling through the use of cutting-edge technology. The fractal worlds created in Recombination evoke a primal, pre-verbal form of storytelling, one in which the audience loses themselves in the music, the visuals, and the journey.
Horsthuis, a world-renowned visionary artist with a specific focus on fractals, has created content for televison, fulldomes, operas, and more. With Recombination: A Fractal Albumâ, Horsthuis is able to push the boundaries once again, rendering 3-D fractals at a resolution never before achieved for the everyday viewer. This is the first time a immersive experience was rendered fully using fractal software. The result is a series of crisp, stunning dream-like worlds that take the viewer on a seemingly infinite journey through the subconscious.
With the help of world-class ambient and electronic musicians such as Michael Stearns (composer for films Baraka and Samsara) and Max Cooper, Horsthuis envelopes the audience visual and auditory senses and brings these fractal narratives to life.
